There’s pain from falling in love

and pain when remembering too.

There are times I wish for pain so

I can feel closer to you.

Breath Of Fire by Amanda Bouchet

Breath of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles #2)Breath of Fire by Amanda Bouchet

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After what seemed like forever I finally sat down and read Breathe Of Fire by Amanda Bouchet. I should say I devoured the second book in Bouchet’s Kingmaker Chronicles because there was little sleep. This series has quickly become a favorite of mine as it’s a mythology encased romantic adventure.

Breath Of Fire starts immediately after A Promise Of Fire,” jumping right into “Cat” Catalia Fisa dealing with the aftermath of the events in the first book. From the start, there’s drama, action, romance and my favorite, a dose of Greek mythology. I loved that this second book involved more mythology and Bouchet does a great job intertwining it with the characters stories.

I loved Cat and Griffin’s story. Their relationship progresses to the point that Griffin is more than ready to take the next step and I love his support of Cat. In this book a lot of secondary characters are pushed to the front. We learn a lot more about Kato, Jocasta, Carver and Flynn. I really look forward to learning more about Piers which I have a hunch we’ll get in the next book!

So the wait for Heart on Fire begins! For anyone who has already read the Kingmaker Chronicles, I recommend rereading them and for everyone else I absolutely recommend you start reading.

Green Rider by Kristen Britain

Green Rider (Green Rider, #1)Green Rider by Kristen Britain

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While looking for my next great epic fantasy read I came across Kristen Britain’s Green Rider series! Again, a great book I found when I wasn’t even looking. Green Rider is the first book in the series and I should have known that I would love this book because of three things. First, the series follows a woman named Karigan G’ladheon. Second, there’s action and I’m not talking about a few sword fights but life and death type of situations. (fyi, there’s no such thing as too much action) And third, there’s magic involved!

The Green Rider is an excellent book if you’re looking to follow a woman through a perilous journey she didn’t ask to take. Britain does a great job of creating a female character who acknowledges her faults but still perseveres through the face of danger. Though I was looking for my next epic fantasy when discovering Green Rider, I wouldn’t classy this first book as high fantasy or what I refer to as epic fantasy like The Lord of the Rings or the Sword of Truth series, which was the type of book I was looking for. This book was lighter in its mood and simpler in writing.

No matter what type of genre/style you’re looking for in your next book, I definitely recommend checking out Green Rider by Kristen Britain!

Throwback Thursday Review: Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts

Where the Heart IsWhere the Heart Is by Billie Letts

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I first read this book a long time ago after seeing the movie, with Natalie Portman who played Novalee Nation. Natalie Portman became one of my favorite actors and I had to read the book after watching the movie. P.S., it didn’t disappoint!

Where the Heart Is is a soft, heart warming story. I love the pacing and tone throughout the book. There is a trustful tone set from start to finish that allows the reader to have faith that everything will work out in the end. I love that Letts was able to create this tone as it helps develop the characters. I really recommend the movie to everyone and to give the book a shot. I just love the story and its one of my favorites!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you’re looking for a period romance featuring a sexy Highlander, then this is a great book! I zoomed through this book in a day! A satisfying story,  it featuring great chemistry between the two main characters. Paired with solid writing, the pace produces an urge to finish the story asap. After finishing this book I found out it’s part of a trilogy and it left me wanting more. I look forward to reading the next book!
